Kevin was born and raised in Las Vegas. Prior to the LVCVA, Kevin was a collegiate athlete receiving his undergrad from Dixie State University and his Master’s Degree focused in the field of Disaster Preparedness from Grand Canyon University. Kevin began working with the LVCVA in 2017 and is currently a K9 Officer protecting over 4.6 million square foot facility and 2.5 million square feet of exhibit space. Kevin has six years of experience in the field of explosive detection and vapor wake detection.
Kevin received a K9 diploma from the Vapor Wake K9 Academy located in Anniston, Alabama. Vapor Wake’s patented training process has evolved K9 detection allowing an added level of security against hand-carried and body-worn explosives. The training center and academy included a schoolhouse, a vehicle lot with over 150 cars & trucks, and multiple warehouses and cargo areas for training. While the Vapor Wake portion was conducted during large events, college football games, and at their local mall. The detection canine teams were then certified after completing 280 hours of training, a final written exam, & 6 practical exams. Kevin attended Vapor Wake’s extensive 7-week program in late September 2018 to prepare themselves to handle their K9 partners during high profile events. Both canine teams completed K9 school and graduated on November 9th, 2018.
Shortly after graduating from VWK9, Kevin and his partner K9 Bo got back to work in November 2018. Since 2018 they have assisted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department with numerous large-scale events including New Years Eve, NFL Draft, Rock N Roll Marathon, FIFA World Cup, and Formula 1
